Introduction To Work Orders

In the business of Manufacturing, there are many steps from the planning to the final product. The Profi'C Work Orders and Bill of Materials modules are designed to control, streamline, and shorten these steps.

Note: It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the Profi'C Bill of Materials module before beginning Work Orders. In the Bill of Materials module you will be introduced to defining components and entering labor costs that will be used by Work Orders.

Generally, the process of manufacturing a product follows these steps:

1. Planning - Creating a Bill of Material which details the components of a product including labor costs.

2. Materials Availability - Components for any product must be available when the product needs to be manufactured.

3. Labor Allocation - Labor must be able to be allocated for each specific job schedule.

4. Materials - need to be committed at the start or launch of a work order and deducted from inventory when a finished product is assembled.

5. Finished Products - need to be placed into inventory even if the entire work order is not fulfilled.

The Profi'C Work Orders module, in conjunction with Profi'C Inventory Control and Bill of Materials modules, accomplishes all of these objectives.
